Keeper blow for Saddlers
Wednesday 21st October 2009, 11:28AM BST.
Walsall goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin was today ruled out for up to a month.
A scan revealed he has a 3cm tear in his hamstring and the initial diagnosis is the 22-year-old will be sidelined for at least three weeks.
He suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday’s 3-0 win over Exeter.
The Irishman had deposed Clayton Ince as the Saddlers’ No 1 and had started the last eight games – the best run of his professional career.
Ince is now in line to start at Colchester on Saturday and boss Chris Hutchings, who watched Wolves reserves draw 2-2 with Arsenal last night, could yet sign a keeper on loan with just 18-year-old Tim Cooney as cover.

I must be watching different matches then. yes he is a good shot stopper, but he does not command his area as you need in this division. The defenders have not got a clue if he will come or stop, again evident on saturday before he went off. he just waits until it is obvious what will happen, and collects the ball. Although kicking at times is erratic, Ince is by far the better keeper by a mile
