Kidderminster Harriers will be forced to wait to learn whether their appeal of Robbie Matthews’ red card against Luton has been successful.

The big striker is looking at a three-game ban for an alleged stamp on goalkeeper Mark Tyler in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat.

Now the club are the victims of a mix-up between the post service and the FA headquarters at Wembley Stadium, with no-one on hand to pick up the evidence for the case when Royal Mail called yesterday morning.

Clubs normally must lodge an appeal by post in time to be put before the regulatory commission at Tuesday lunchtime, but instead the FA were presented with proof of delivery along with a ‘Track and Trace’ receipt.

Satisfied that the club made every attempt to send the DVD, still images and relevant paperwork before the deadline, the FA have now agreed to hear the appeal at 1pm tomorrow, then decide whether the player can take his place in Saturday’s home game against Crawley.

Should Matthews’ suspension be upheld, he would also miss the FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie at home to Blue Square North side Fleetwood a week on Saturday, where Harriers are slashing ticket prices for the day.

Admission to seated areas for the ground will be £13 for adults, £8 for concessions and £5 for under-16′s. Admission to the terraces will be at the lower price £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for under-16′s.

The game will be a pay-on-the-day affair although, as per normal match operations, Main Stand tickets will be printed for those who wish to purchase in advance.
