Elokobi refusing to compromise

George Elokobi insists Wolves won’t sacrifice their ‘play to win’ mentality by chasing draws and clean sheets.
Wolves go into Saturday’s self-billed Molineux survival clash with Portsmouth having lost 5-2 at Sunderland on Sunday yet knowing they played a full part in the game.
But the powerful left-back says their attacking policy will continue as they aim to increase their points ratio from the one a game so far.
“We go into games to win, not to sit back and defend,” said the 23-year-old.
“We’re always positive in aiming to pick up three points and that’s what we’ll do throughout the season.
“Attacking is the team’s strength and we’ve got to do that while also keeping things tight, especially in the first 20 minutes of matches.
“The team is full of energy and everyone likes to be positive and when we attack we should be able to give most teams in this division some problems.
“We have to play our game, and be positive about what we do on the pitch.”
Elokobi added: “Sunderland was never a 5-2 game, but that’s the score that will be remembered.
“We were very positive and didn’t want to sit back, and when we got back to 2-2, we wanted to try to win.
“But then they put away those chances at the end. It was hard to take.”
Elokobi admits Pompey will probably try to attack and see there’s little to lose after starting the season with seven straight defeats – the worst in Premier League history.
“Like us, Portsmouth will be looking for the win, so it should be an exciting game,” he said. “Hopefully if we keep on playing the way we have, it will be us coming away with the points.
“The fans will be important as they always are.
“They were great against Fulham and at Sunderland when they kept with us even when we went 2-0 down. We need that support.”
