Valero’s Albion hope – Exclusive

Tuesday 29th September 2009, 11:00AM BST.

Borja ValeroAlbion record signing Borja Valero wants to return to play for the Baggies next season – his agent has revealed.

The £4.7million Spaniard has unfinished business in the Premier League and could return to the Hawthorns next summer, according to his representative Marten Paledes.

Valero left the Baggies in August after a troubled first season in England but he is already earning rave reviews back in La Liga with Real Mallorca, who he has helped to fourth place in the table.

Now Paledes has revealed the 24-year-old might not have played his final game for Albion.

Paledes said: “Borja was very happy last season with West Bromwich Albion. It is a very good club with very good people, starting with Dan Ashworth, who is an excellent sporting director.

“Borja was happy there, working with Tony Mowbray. The only problem was that the club got relegated and the new coach wanted a different type of player for the Championship.

“But we hope Borja can play in the Premier League again. It is the top league in the world at the moment and he thinks that last season was still a great experience, even though it didn’t work out as he wanted.

“He feels he learned a lot from his first season in the Premier League and was a better player at the end of the season.

“We hope he will get another chance to show he can play in the Premier League and, at the moment, he is due to go back to West Bromwich next summer.”

Valero struggled for form last season following his high-profile move from Mallorca a year ago and it was little surprise when he returned to his former club on a season-long loan.

But no deal is in place for the move to become permanent and financial restrictions at Mallorca could hinder any efforts to keep the midfielder beyond this season.

Paledes reiterated: “At the moment we expect Borja to return to West Bromwich at the end of the season.”

    This will never happen.

He was never the worst player in the team but certainly wasn’t the best. We don’t need him. We were relegated due to too many mistakes, some caused by him. If he isn’t willing to battle in the Championship when things aren’t going well he can’t just waltz in when things aren’t going well.

He should take a leaf out of other players books. Olsson and Brunt could’ve been in the Premiership this season but have shown loyalty and commitment to the cause.

Credit to Greening though, time is now against him and who can blame him for wanting Premiership and European football at his age?

    BOING BOING!!!

“Squad, Aboooout TURN! Agents, fall out for de-briefing”. You couldn’t make it up and get it printed in a kid’s comic. I’ve nothing against Valero and he did start to show a bit before we sank without trace, but this agent is as reliable as an English weather forecast for 2009. We still haven’t managed a barbeque yet.

Thanks Borja, but no thanks, I do honestly believe you’re best staying where you are!

Also we want players who want to play for the shirt, not who pick and choose what team they want to play for as they’ve been relegated. It’s called commitment, look it up in the dictionary!

Sorry to change the subect but i’ve just read on another web site that King Kev is getting frustrated at his lack of first team football down at Birmingham. Why dont we go in for him? Him and Bednar formed a great partnership last time in the championship and i now for a fact he would score the chances Moore is missing!

He still has so much to offer us and his goals would get us promoted again!!

We didn’t see the best of him. However a lot of people in Spanish football highly rate him.

Lets see how he gets on in La Liga this season before we write him off all together.

No.8 That would be great, but he is a premier league player and it will not be long until he gets his chance and I bet you we could not afford his premier league wages. His decision to leave I guess is now warranted as I can see them staying up.

Valero coming back. If we are still in the championship that is fine but if we by some miracle get promoted with a 20 man squad I want him sold not wasting our time in the premier league again.

Borja Typical Mowbray Signing tippy tappy some of the comments after the palace game have been way out of line it was just one match let’s see in a few weeks where we stand Matteo is a Modern Guy and knows what he’s talking about he wants to win football matches unlike mogga who was only interested in trying to entertain that’s why we were relegated and Stoke Stayed up .

Valero is a good player. The problem was you couldnt have greening and Valero in the same team. In the prem without Greening, Valero could be a very good player for us playing in the whole just behind front man. He’s very creative and played too deep a lot of times for us in prem. It’s doubtful he will play again for us but if he did i wouldn’t be too disappointed.

Players need backing and support, not slagging off. It’s no wonder he wanted out, and that he is now doing well in Spain. Get behind your players, and team as a whole, and then, not only will you keep the best players, you’ll also be beating sides like Palace.

We don’t need players who come and go as they please.

If Valero is earning rave reveiws back home in Spain he can stay there, we’ve had enough of players who have wanted to leave when we got demoted from the Prem.

If you play for the Baggies you take the rough with the smooth, if Valero wants Prem football then go to Fulham they always welcome our want-away players, TOMO would have always have you as well.

    C’mon the Baggies!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats going on withe Valero?? One minute he’s happy the next he wants to leave, now he wants to come back again?!
Im sure just before he went back to Mallorca he was saying he wanted 2 move, he wasn’t happy, would be happier in his homeland etc etc.
Make ur mind up! What if we dont get promoted? Will he still wanna come back then?

8 – That would be great but I cant see it happening, maybe in January we can hope…. If it was going 2 happen think he would have came back in the summer. Apparantley it was rumoured he was at the home game at Wigan just before we got relegated and there was a few whispers back then.
Also rumoured is for a return is Kamara on loan from Fulham, I didnt like his attitude towards the end of his spell but we need players like him and Phillips. Remember that partnership, at least one of them scored EVERY single game! We miss them cuz at the moment we havent got a goalscorer like them. And I am gettin worried for the rest of the season.

Another question… why the heck dont we sign Michael Chopra?? He has banged them in for fun in the championship for 2 or 3 years now! And how many did he score yesterday again? Thats right 4! Sign him up!

But as for Valero, not really fussed. If there was ever a player that should return from a season long loan, its Jonno Greening. Hopefuly we can offer him the option of premiership football next year with us. But with the lack of a goalscorer like the ones mentioned above I am concerned we might not be able to.
