OAP hits out at attacks ‘ratbags’
Tuesday 29th September 2009, 11:30AM BST.
A disabled pensioner is “at the end of her tether” after yobs caused more than £1,500 of damage to her car during five vandal attacks, leaving her stranded in her home.
Brenda Hill, aged 78, is so fed up of the attacks she has resorted to leaving notes in the windscreen telling the “ratbags” what she thinks of them. Mrs Hill, of Wollaston, Stourbridge, says she was driven to vent her anger after repeated complaints to police failed to stop the vandals who have struck twice in the last three weeks.
The yobs jumped on her car, denting the bonnet and roof and also smashed its windscreen.
The widow, whose late husband Jeffrey was a policeman, responded by leaving a note addressed “to the ratbags who keep wrecking my car”. It continues: “My wish for you may my troubles be yours, may you have double the trouble when you are 78.”
Another note reads: “This car is my lifeline. The wheels are my legs. You have cost me hospital appointments and visits to the doctors.”
She says the constant attacks means she can no longer afford the £75 insurance excess payment needed to cover the cost of repairs.
Former hairdresser Mrs Hill said today: “The vandalism has meant I haven’t been able to get out of my house to go shopping or to the doctors to get prescriptions. They are ratbags and we are living in this totally lawless society where these people can just get away with it.
“It has got to the stage where I have done all I could in terms of reporting the vandalism and I have reached the end of my tether.
“I first reported this two-and-a-half years ago but all the police said was, ‘We will give you a crime number’. They should be out on the beat or in their cars patrolling the area.”
Mrs Hill says officers have visited her home to take statements about the latest attack on Friday. Mrs Hill added she has four slipped discs in her back and is forced to wear a surgical belt. Sgt Dave Rennison today said high-visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area.

And when there caught the police will say there too young to be punished and let them go.

Mrs Hill should be given a gun so as she could shoot these scumbags. In fact, ALL law abiding hard working citizens should be allowed to shoot anyone they see damaging property. Not shoot to kill, just wound
Might slow them down a bit

The comment from the police that ‘we will give you a crime number’ is typical of the way in which they now and have for some time, respond to the public.
IF these kind of incidents were to happen to one of their own, the WHOLE police force would be out looking for the culprits!
So a message to the police…
We all pay our taxes for YOU to do your duty, get off your backsides and earn the money we are all paying for your services!
It is no good apportioning blame for this on a lack of resources, lack of manpower or blaming the Government, for it just won’t wash!
The general public are told they cannot take the law into their own hands, so it is up to YOU THE POLICE to do so – GET TO IT – TODAY!

Mrs Hill, get out of the place, I did and no regrets.
The Police are a waste of space and command no respect whatsoever.
Whatever you do don’t tackle these scum because the police will take the easy option and arrest YOU.

I hope all you people who are against smacking children feel really proud about this. The liberal minority in this country have systematically ruined this country over the past 30 years, and now we are reaping the rewards. Time for the majority to restore some order. I am not talking about vigilante gangs going round beating people up, but, it is as plain as the nose on your face that the liberal way of sitting them down and giving them a stiff talking too DOES NOT WORK!

Brenda is a neighbour of mine and i have seen first hand the effect the constant vandalism has had on her. She has become a prisoner in her own home and she will not venture out in the dark and remains locked in behind closed doorss. I see the local MP on TV sunday telling people what a safe aree Stourbridge is, well try telling that to Brenda. Where have the police been, i realise they are over stretched but when you have to go to the local press to get any action its a pretty poor society we live in. But its not just the police who don’t want to know the “Free” Paper in stourbridge for stourbridge did not deem the story news worthy enough either and also claimed lack of resources to cover the story and lack of pages, it will be with interest i read the paper this week and see what story was more news worthy than someone in there community appealing for help.Well Done E&S.

Well done to the Express and Star on reporting this story and supporting Brenda. They actually arrived to report the story before the police got there and the police station is only half a mile away and shame on you to the “local” paper for stourbridge which didn’t deem it news worthy enough. Brenda had no one to turn to to help and the Express and Star has given her some faith back in her “local” community.

Mrs Hill, its a shame the e&s did not give the name of your road. I would have come down and found these ratbags and then served justice upon them, trust they would have never ever bothered you again. Gladly Iam off work after today for 4 days so I and my people will drive round wollaston and find these ratbags.
We had the same issues in the area I live in with outsiders comming in and destroying it so many of us got together and served justice on them and we still go on to clear other areas of these total waste oxygen’s.
Mrs Hill my heart goes out to you.

2, 5 and 7 – Good on you. In cases such as this, the “System” fails the decent, law-abiding majority. Time to act outside the system, just like the yobs do, and teach them a lesson they will never forget. You can only take so much.

No.7 it looks like South Road to me, opposite the park. Lets hope the little blighters get a “smack” of their own.

Why are yobs allowed to do this with no fear of the law.
We are giving in to them everytime they walk from court free.
Lock them up! No TV, No music, feed them what a pensioner has to live on!!
We are one sick country.

My daughter and son in law both had their cars vandalised to such an extent that they were both written off. The difference was that we knew who had done the damage, we told the police who it was and their reply was ”it’s more than my job is worth to go and question them”
What on earth do we pay rates for if this is what we get in return.

I do have some sympathy with the police as even if they did get this scum the courts would not back them up. Unfortunately the courts send out the message that you can offend as often as you like and you can still walk free. The scum that were torturing the mother and daughter in Leics are responsible for their deaths, not the police. Its time everyone took responsibility for their actions, and that parents started to parent!

“us too” That is absolutely disguting!!! Just WHAT do we pay the police for?

Camera..lawfully filming a public place. You Tube. Oh, and does the police station close down at night, too? Just interested to know.

Oh yeah, no.8 means no ill intent, if certain people are reading this. Just helping bring these rat-bag’s to justice I guess – hey, if something bad did happen to them? It would be a terrible thing, wouldn’t it. They say what goes around comes around, after all.
p.s. We live in an information age. I believe you can film an open place. I like video hosting sites, too.

Having spoken to Brenda this evening she expresses her gratitude for all the support and kind words that have been written on here. “Its nice to know there are so many like minded and decent people out there” were her words. The latest is that the Police seem more interested in disputing Brenda’s account of how many times she has contacted them than solving the problem, its all about Figures folks not people anymore!!!Still waiting to see any police presence in the area as was suggested by the Sgt Rennison, not a sign of a high viz jacket yet. Not very reassuring.
