pitmen.jpgHednesford caretaker manager Bernard McNally has admitted he wants the job and insists he is the perfect man for it.

The Pitmen’s temporary boss is in pole position to succeed Dean Edwards after their impressive 4-2 win against Leamington on Saturday.

He said: “I’ve put my CV forward and I want the job. I hope the four games I have will show I’m good enough because I believe it.

“The best way to get the job is not by sending a piece of paper to the chairman – it is by showing him on the pitch.”

But the former Northern Ireland international knows he has control of his own destiny, ahead of a trip to Hemel Hempstead in the Southern League Premier Division this Saturday.

He said: “I have a great opportunity here, it’s nice to be back and I jumped at it when I was offered the caretaker role. Now it’s down to me.”

Saturday’s victory did his prospects no harm after they hit Leamington for four to move up to 10th in the table.

He added: “The front three did remarkably well. Including Justin Nisbett we turned up with four strikers and let the players express themselves. It will do wonders for their confidence.”
