The double Golden Boot winner goes into tomorrow’s clash at Sunderland on the bench again after making his comeback in last week’s 2-1 win against Fulham following a hamstring injury.

But the 23-year-old hitman, who has scored 37 goals in 63 games, is happy to play a waiting game behind current first-choice duo Kevin Doyle and Andy Keogh.

“I’m a striker who wants to be playing, but I’ll be patient and as long as we’re winning games if it keeps me out of the team then I’m not going to complain,” said Ebanks-Blake.

“Doyle and Keogh are good players and good lads who have worked well together. If we keep playing well and winning games then great and I’ve just got to keep pushing and working hard.

“We’re all champing at the bit and are all wanting to play, but we need a good squad and the manager and the players wouldn’t have it any other way. Competition for places brings the best out of everyone which is what you need at this level.”

“My main aim is to keep pushing and trying for a start in the league but the boys have been doing really well.

“We won our last League game and have been putting points on the board and there’s a great team ethic and camaraderie about the place.”
