It is usually seen as an old woman’s pastime, conjuring up images of 1950s housewives and Women’s Institutes.

But a 26-year-old Willenhall model is shaking off baking’s fuddy-duddy image, after setting up a cupcake business.

And with more and more people shunning heavy fruit wedding cakes in favour of trays of colourful iced cupcakes, Leanne Porter believes she may be on to a real winner.

Made trendy by Carrie and co in Sex and the City, cupcakes are rapidly becoming the latest must-have baked accessory.

Leanne now runs The Natural Cake Kitchen, from her home in The Crescent, Willenhall, cooking up batches of bespoke treats.

She was inspired by her boyfriend, procurement manager James Street.

“I never thought I could bake but then abut two years ago I started doing it because my boyfriend has the biggest sweet tooth ever,” she said.
