Vice-captain Olsson played alongside Jara when the Chile international made his Baggies debut in the Carling Cup at Arsenal on Tuesday.
And he reckons the 24-year-old will adjust quickly to Championship football.
“He made a good impression,” said Olsson, who helped guide Jara through his first taste of the English game. “He’s done well in training and is an intelligent man and I wasn’t surprised to see him do well.
“If he can stand up like he did on Tuesday against Arsenal then he’ll have no problems in the Championship. He played very well against Arsenal.”
And Olsson has been impressed by Jara’s efforts on the training ground since his £1.4m signing from Santiago club Colo Colo.
“He has great feet, like most South American players do,” said Olsson, who is set to sign a new contract of his own in the next few days. “They are generally good technical players with good skills. He’s a key player for Chile, he’s captained them and he seems a good guy and we think that the experiences he has will help him blend in well.”
Olsson helped Jara through his first away trip with the Baggies on Tuesday with the Chilean still geting to grips with English.
