Kidderminster will do battle with a former Harriers favourite in Andy Ferrell when the midfielder starts for York against his old club for the first time since leaving in the summer.

The combative Geordie will line-up for the home side at KitKat Crescent tomorrow (3pm), with the visitors able to leapfrog their hosts in the top 10 with a win.

Ferrell made 69 appearances for Harriers after he was brought to Aggborough by current boss Mark Yates, initially on loan, in March 2007.

He was one of eight players to leave the club after missing the play-off’s on the final day of last season, but remains in touch with his old manager and those still on the playing staff from his time there.

Skipper Chris McPhee, who first came to the club in February when Ferrell was out injured, recalls his old team-mate as a bright spark.

He said: “It will be an interesting conversation with ‘Fez,’ that is for sure. But, as soon as the whistle goes, all we will care about is three points.

“To be fair, when I first came to the club he was out injured but I remember how much he used to gee up the boys.

“Andy always had plenty of encouraging things to say and he was a big help during that period, without even playing.

“He is such a happy character and a great professional.”

Harriers must replace Dean Bennett in central midfield as he is suspended for one match after picking up five yellow cards, with Nathan Hayward or John Finnigan set to step in.

Striker Robbie Matthews made his comeback from the bench in midweek, but is not considered fit enough to start.
