Thomas sorry for Emirates red

Wednesday 23rd September 2009, 11:30AM BST.

SOCCER Arsenal 6Jerome Thomas has said sorry to his Albion team-mates for the red card at Arsenal that will see him banned for the next three matches.

The former Gunners winger was sent off on his return to the Emirates Stadium last night for lashing out at Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.

The red card proved the turning point in Albion’s 2-0 Carling Cup defeat.

Thomas told boss Roberto Di Matteo he reacted to comments from Wilshere but goalkeeper Dean Kiely revealed: “He shook all of our hands and apologised.

“From a negative situation that is a decent reaction, because I have seen similar situations where the person involved has cowered away in the corner and hoped nobody would say anything.

“He didn’t really elaborate but he was obviously disappointed because it led to him being sent off and he felt he had let us down a bit.

“But fair-play to him for his reaction when we all came in.”

Thomas refused to comment after the loss, which ended Di Matteo’s unbeaten start in charge of the Baggies.

But he told the Hawthorns head coach he had retaliated after an ‘exchange of words’ with Wilshere after the pair contested a tackle.

Di Matteo had no complaints with the red card but was unhappy with the highly-rated Wilshere’s role in the incident.

The Italian said: “It was a red card. My player went to shake the Arsenal player’s hand and he refused, and he reacted.

“There was an exchange of words and then he reacted. I do know what was said but it’s not important.

“I’m disappointed Wilshere didn’t accept his hand.”

LETS FORGET ABOUT LAST NIGHT. IT WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTING AS I FELT WE WERE PLAYING ALRIGHT AND HAD CHANCES OURSELVES. ARSENAL FANS ARE ‘A LITTLE ON THE QUIET SIDE’ AS IT WAS ALBION FANS WHO WERE MAKING THE MOST NOISE AND IT WAS GREAT TO SEE SO MANY OF US MAKING THE TRIP TO THE EMIRATES ON A WEEK DAY – NIGHT GAME. CREDIT TO YOU ALL. LETS MOVE ON FROM LAST NIGHT AND CONCENTRATE ON SATURDAYS GAME. BOING BOING, COME ON YOU BAGGIES.

When will players learn that the way to ‘get your own back’ is to keep on beating the opponent who is trying to take you out by fair means or foul. Thomas will be sorely missed for 3 more important games than the Carling Cup. We now have TEN players who have worn themselves out covering for his burst of anger, whether that anger was justified or not. Jack Wilshere’s reaction should be studied by the FA and he should be banned too for doing a Laurence Olivier act. Appalling behaviour from both men. Arsene Wenger needs to see a doctor about his intermittent hearing and blindness illness. It could get more serious.

As soon as he touched him,It was obvious the intention was to get Thomas sent off, yes he laid a hand on him and no he shudna dunnit, but the way he reacted, I thought he must have had a knuckleduster smashed into his face, what an actor, he should also have been red carded.

Ok Thomas so you shook hands with the players, thats fine. Now what about the supporters? Serve your 3 match ban, comw back and you have to score in 3 successive matches, thats an order boy. Do that and your sins are forgotten.
