Licence for beer bus firm revoked
Friday 18th September 2009, 11:29AM BST.
A firm running a beer bus in the Black Country has had its licence revoked after a string of failures left customers at risk.
Oldbury-based Beer Bus Company was running two “Goldfinger Beer Buses”, which offered pub tours as well as transport to events in coaches converted into nightclubs.
However investigations found both vehicles had failed an MoT, vehicle inspections had been missed and there were gaps in the maintenance records.
A public inquiry was called after problems were flagged up, where Deputy Traffic Commissioner Roger Seymour ruled the vehicles were a risk to passengers and other drivers.
In his report the deputy traffic commissioner ruled operator Gary O’Connor, who was granted a licence in October 2007, had been negligent.
The licence was revoked as of September 10. Mr O’Connor was also disqualified from holding or obtaining an operator’s licence for a period of nine months.
