A worker died today after falling 40ft through a factory roof in West Bromwich.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to a building on Bromford Lane at around 11.30am yesterday.
The man, who has not been named, was a contractor doing work on the building when he fell through the roof, suffering a serious head injury and multiple injuries to his body.
He was taken to Sandwell Hospital in a critical condition and died just after midnight.
Although based on the Bromford Iron and Steel Company Ltd site, the building where the tragedy occurred is being leased to Wolverhampton’s 24/7 Engineering Services.
Company boss Mark Brady said today: “We’re all in shock. We’re due to take control of the building and there has been some refurbishment going on.”
