Coach driver trial after fatal crash

A coach driver will stand trial early next month charged with manslaughter after a fatal crash.
Robert Oughton, aged 52, of Newgate Street, Burntwood, was driving a Walsall-based marching band to a competition on September 21 last year when the accident happened in Scarborough.
Oughton, a driver for 1-4-You Airports and Coach Travel in Burntwood, will stand trial alongside his boss John Lote, 60, of Meadway Street, Burntwood, on September 7 at Leeds Crown Court.
The accident happened on the A64 at the foot of Staxton Hill, Scarborough. The coach, which was carrying the Pelsall-based West Midland Crystalettes, crashed into a VW Passat.
The couple inside the car, Paul and Deborah Clements, aged 40 and 39, were killed in the collision.
