Students help with hospice lottery
Friday 28th August 2009, 11:30AM BST.
A team of students is helping to raise funds for St Giles Hospice – by spending their summer holiday recruiting players in the charity’s weekly lottery.
Rosanna Prince from Whittington and Elsa Hunt from Rugeley are among the canvassers going door to door selling tickets and hoping to sign up new regular players.
Richard Simmonite, St Giles Hospice lottery’s commercial manager, said: “Often young people are criticised for not helping in their local community but this team of students dispel those myths.”
Hospice lottery canvassers carry official St Giles identification cards and lottery leaflets and are happy to talk to anyone about St Giles Hospice. Over the next few weeks, the students will be calling at homes in Streetly, Boldmere and Sutton Coldfield.
An entry in the St Giles Hospice lottery costs £1. Each week there are £3,000 in prizes awarded, with one winner scooping a £2,000 jackpot. Even if they don’t win, players can be sure that all the proceeds are going to a worthwhile cause.
Further details about the lottery are on 0845 370 6580 and at www.stgileshospice. com/lottery
