Doyle raring to go for Wolves
Friday 28th August 2009, 11:34AM BST.
Wolves’ record signing Kevin Doyle is itching for his first start against Hull confident that his new team have the attacking threat to stay clear of trouble.
The season may be less than a month old but tomorrow’s Molineux clash with last season’s boom-and-bust strugglers Hull is already seen as vital to the long-term goal of staying in the Premier League.
Striker Doyle has been held back until now by a hernia, but after completing an hour against Swindon on Tuesday feels ready to go.
He said: “I’m keen to get playing, looking to score some goals and getting going for Wolves.
“It’s a case of staying injury-free and enjoying the season. We’ve got three points from three games, but I think in the games if you look at the performances we’ve looked dangerous.
“We’ve looked like we can create chances and score goals and have been involved in every game. I think the signs are very positive.”
Manager Mick McCarthy, having used a five-man midfield at Wigan and Manchester City, hinted at a return to a two-man front-line tomorrow leaving Doyle as the obvious choice to partner Andy Keogh.
But appears that the game has come too early for Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
