A dedicated charity worker is holding a fundraising music festival in Stourport tomorrow night.

Emily Close, aged 32, works as a care line advisor for Leukaemia Care and has pledged to raise £1,000 for the charity.

Leukaemia Care provides care and support to patients and their families during their diagnosis and treatment of leukaemia, lymphoma and any allied blood disorder.

The free care line is staffed 24 hours a day for anyone who needs to talk about their experience of the disease.

Emily and her neighbour Geoff Booth, both of Stourport, have organised the festival which will be held at Stourport Boat Club, in Dunley Road, from 7.30pm.

Bands including Smooth, Up For It, Hunger For Thirst and JAK the Lads have all agreed to take part in the concert free of charge.

To boost funds, Emily, her brother Daniel Close and Mr Booth, are also planning to take part in a skydive in aid of the charity.

Emily said: “The support that our members receive from the care line is vital to helping people with blood and lymphatic cancers, through what can be a traumatic period of their lives.”

Tickets for tomorrow’s event are priced at £5 and are available on the door.
