Bond fan has Golden Eye for a show

BOND TS 25A James Bond enthusiast’s vast collection of memorabilia is to go on show at a new exhibition opening in the Black Country.

Robin Harbour from Willenhall has loaned Walsall Museum a hoard of items including books, vintage models and toys, records, jigsaws, games, DVDs, baseball caps, posters, magazines, autographs, even socks and boxer shorts.

It will also feature photographs of Robin with some of the vehicles and actors in Bond movies, along with some autographs.

Community historian at the museum Jennifer Thompson said: “James Bond has had such a big following for so many years and continues to really grab people’s attention.

“Robin’s collection is marvellous and contains some amazing items. I’m sure it will prove very popular.”

Mr Harbour began collecting James Bond items as a boy in 1964 after seeing Goldfinger at the cinema, starting with the purchase of a Corgi model Aston Martin DB5 – before growing to around 5,000 items today.

He has since assisted with numerous Bond-themed events and displays, including the establishment of the new Bond Museum in Keswick.

The James Bond display is on show in the Your Corner area of the museum’s The Changing Face of Walsall gallery, from tomorrow until October 17.

The Your Corner is a dedicated area for local groups and individuals to put on their own displays.
