Battered and bruised at 90

A 90-year-old woman was left bleeding and bruised after being attacked and thrown to the ground as she went to lay flowers on the grave on her late husband.
Today Nancy Reeve allowed a picture of her injuries to be published as police appealed for help catching the mugger.
Great great grandmother Mrs Reeve had a cut above her right eye needing six stitches and had to have stitches to a cut on her left hand, after she was knocked over as her bag was stolen containing her purse, £50 , keys and bus pass.
Other injuries include severe bruising on her hands and arms, grazing and bruising to her right knee.
The attack happened on Trinity Way, yards from her home, as she went to the tram stop going to West Bromwich crematorium to lay flowers on the grave of late husband William.
She managed to pick herself up and make her way back home but after realising she had no bag or keys alerted a neighbour. She was taken to Sandwell and Dudley Hospital where she stayed overnight.
Former Vowles foundry worker and Salter scales machinist Mrs Reeve celebrated her milestone birthday with twin sister Sarah Preece in January. She is now being looked after by her daughter Beryl Cox.
Mrs Cox, aged 69, said: “How low can somebody get to do this for the sake of £50?” The bag was stolen in the attack, between 9.30 and 10am on Saturday.
DS Shanie Erwin, of British Transport Police, said: “This was a despicable attack on a frail pensioner.”

This makes me so angry. This lady has probably worked most of her adult life (as do most decent hard working people do) yet some deadbeat drug taking dole-ite that probably has never worked a day in his life and probably never will preys on her.

Don’t bring back national service!! , i don’t want to have to look after these scumbags in my Army. All they’re good for in Afghanistan is using them to set off IED’s to make a safe passage for the rest of us. But why should your’s and mine tax’s pay for these losers to be trained to be killers?
Make prisons less comfortable eg – double inmates up in cells for starters, that’ll also adress prison capacities at the same time as making prisons look like less of a holiday camp.

How can a human being attack a defenceless frail pensioner who was only at the graveside to seek comfort from her deceased husband. Who ever has done this has no concious, no morals and that person is more than likely to do it again. This country is run by criminals, decent folk cant walk the street without feeling intimidated by the vermin that the law are unable to touch. Gordon Brown and the labour govt has alot to answer for. Whoever did this attack needs to have his hands chopped off, and sent to prison for life.

This is typical of the society that we have created in the UK. There is no collective responsibility or sense of community in many areas. Six million working age people on benefits as they can quite happily live on handouts, huge numbers of single parents, fathers who take no responsibility and mothers who are too stupid to think of contraception.

Although there’s no proof that it was a drug addict that attacked Mrs Reeve it more than likely was. Further to all the comments on the V Festival article regarding the use of gateway drugs and who do they harm? Here’s your answer!

This area is very bad for crime. Not so long ago there was a shooting. there are to many over grown bush for criminals to hide in. Something needs to be done with this station (area), it is so issolated from street level.
