Car ploughs through railings

A car smashed through railing hitting a wall outside a 19th century church in the Black Country.

Fire crews were called to the crash in Mount Pleasant, Quarry Bank, at around 9.30pm yesterday.

Firefighters say the car hit a wall near Mount Pleasant Methodist Church. Watch commander Nick Lacey, from Brierley Hill fire station, said the male driver and another male were treated at the scene by paramedics but only suffered minor injuries.

Meanwhile, a cyclist remains in a critical condition following an accident on Friday afternoon. The man, aged 23, was riding along Drayton Grove in Drayton, about a mile from Belbroughton, when he came off his bike. He was airlifted to Birmingham’s Selly Oak Hospital.
