Till urges Walsall to learn fast

WALSALL V LEEDS 2 TS 18Walsall midfielder Peter Till admits the Saddlers have to learn fast before they become masters of their own downfall.

Chris Hutchings’ side have squandered the lead in their last three games ahead of their trip to Charlton on Saturday.

Accrington, Southend and Leeds have all benefitted from the Saddlers’ generosity in the last 10 days.

Winger Till knows they have to cut out the lapses or pay the price.

He said: “We have done it three times now, we have been in winning positions and we can learn to see the game out a bit more.

“If we can keep more and more clean sheets that obviously helps the attackers, because they then need to just score one goal to win the game.

“If we do learn that the defence looked quite solid, other than the lapses in concentration.”

But the former Birmingham and Grimsby player isn’t excusing himself from the learning curve.

He said: “I am still learning all the time. I am still only 23. Working with a manager as experienced as Chris Hutchings is going to benefit all of us players.”

Till is prepared for the Addicks test and reckons – despite their defensive slip-ups – the Saddlers can go to The Valley with confidence.

He said: “It is a tough league this year – every game is going to be difficult.”
