Officers net drugs in swoop
Thursday 20th August 2009, 11:30AM BST.
Drugs were seized during a dawn raid on a home in Wednesbury today.
A team of nine officers broke down the door of the terrace in Carisbrooke Road on the Friar Park estate at 6.30am.
The officers targeted the home as part of Operation Surety. They picked up cannabis and drug paraphernalia at the scene and a 23-year-old man was arrested for possession with intent to supply.
Inspector Akeel Najib said raids were part of a day-long operation targeting crime across the area.
He said: “There isn’t a big drugs problem in Wednesbury but there are isolated incidents such as this. We want to put out the message that drugs will not be tolerated in Wednesbury.”
PCSOs were out in force on Carisbrooke Road this morning handing out leaflets explaining the morning’s events.
