Interest in Albion’s Valero intensifies
Thursday 20th August 2009, 10:39AM BST.
Albion record signing Borja Valero is increasingly likely to head back to Spain with a tug-of-war developing for the midfielder.
La Liga clubs Racing Santander and Real Mallorca are poised to step up their interest in taking the player on a season-long loan.
Interest from La Liga in Valero has also hotted up, although reports in Spain that he was heading back to his homeland today are thought to be premature.
Media sources close to Mallorca claimed last night that the club had agreed a loan deal to re-sign the 23-year-old, who they sold to the Baggies last summer for £4.7million.
But the Express & Star understands that Mallorca have been speaking directly with Valero’s representatives and are not in advanced negotiations with Albion.
In fact, the Baggies have had more contact from Santander, although they are also a long way from reaching an agreement.

If Greening leaves I fear the worst. Nobody can keep posession in our squad, shocking at the back but good going forward, expect the unexpected this season. I would be happy with the top 6.

Greening was a good player for WBA and has dealt with this transfer saga in a rare and professional manner – good luck to the man

Yeah, especially with the terrible start we’ve had !!
I think we’ll get relegated actually !

I agree with robosleftboot no-one in the Albion team keeps posession like Greening although 4m plus for a 30 year old midfielder is a great deal for us for a bloke that scores one goal a season from central midfield. I think Jonno has been a great player for us and i wish him all the best, he has handled himself in the correct way but i feel it’s time to move on just like the way we have with our new manager. We have Dorrans, Koren or Morrison who could all do a greening type job with Mulumbo just behind them who i think is a master stroke of a signing for 100K or whatever it was. I would like to see us buy another centre forward in light of Millers injury and a centre half to play along side Jonas. However if we could get this kid from Chelsea on a season long loan i reckon Zuvvi could play in the centre no sweat. Keep the faith it’s all about the results this season. We will probably entertain at home and grind them out away, fine by me. We need to find a happy meduim between Megson style and Mowbray style and the Di Matteo style just may do that. Great start Baggies keep it up!!!

He WAS a good servant to the club, but he is not content at WBA so he might as well go! He has asked for a transfer,so he can’t be totally commited to the baggies ,so cut him loose and lets get on with life.Albion will go on long after Jonathan Greening has departed.

McShane Robinson, Koumas, Greening, Gera, Kamara, Phillips, Davies…..all part of the 2007 team that failed to get promotion and who will all be playing in the premiership this year..was this our best squad in last 20 years and was this our best chance..
I do think Dorrens is a better championship player than greening, so agree with the sale but we do need to bring in a ‘wise-head’ somewhere in the team….
