Four people were rushed to hospital following two car crashes in the Black Country and Staffordshire.

In Wolverhampton, a pedestrian was knocked down on the city’s ring road.

The man in his 20s was hit by a blue Nissan Micra on Ring Road St Patrick’s at 4pm yesterday. He was taken to New Cross Hospital by ambulance as a precaution but was unhurt.

The female driver of the Micra was treated for shock at the scene by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Thomas said today an ambulance, rapid response vehicle and police car were called to the scene.

The road was not sealed off but traffic was slow until the ambulance left the scene at 4.30pm. The pedestrian was put on a spinal board as a precaution.

No charges are being brought against the Micra driver as a result of the accident.

Meanwhile, three people were taken to hospital after a crash in Cannock.

Two men and a woman were treated for whiplash and seatbelt injuries after two cars crashed at the junction of Heath Bank Road and Crab Lane.

The accident happened shortly before 6.30pm last night.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Suzie Fothergill said: “On arrival at the scene, crews found two cars that had been in collision.

“Two men and a woman were treated on the scene for seatbelt and whiplash injuries. It is believed that one man was travelling in the first vehicle, and the other two casualties were travelling in the second car at the time of the incident.

“Both men were spinal boarded as a precaution and all three patients were conveyed to Stafford Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
