Walsall forward leaves football

Thursday 6th August 2009, 11:00AM BST.

josh-craddockWalsall have confirmed striker Josh Craddock has left the club to pursue a career away from football.

The 18-year-old signed professional forms in May 2008 and went on to make three substitute appearances for the Saddlers, who retain his registration.

Boss Chris Hutchings explained: “Josh came to see me a month or so ago to explain that he didn’t know whether a career in professional football was for him.

“We have had a number of conversations since and have spoken to Josh’s parents at great length.

“He explained to me that he wanted to go to university full-time, but I didn’t want him to make a hasty decision.

“I told him  I would give him all the time he needed to come to a decision. He has now informed me that this is what he wants to do.

“We did not want to lose Josh but, at the same time, we have to respect his decision.

“We wish him all the very best for the future.”
