This came after a comfortable eight-wicket victory in the qualifying tournament final.

Stuart Wedge with 39 and Greg Wright with 31 were the pick for Himley as Ben Coley finished with 5-14 – including three in the first three overs – while Chris Davidson picked up 3-43.

An unbeaten third-wicket stand between David Hemp with 46 not out and Attiq Chishti with 44 not out eased the Warwickshire outfit into the next stage, with four overs and one ball remaining.

K & D will now host the West Midlands regional play-off on Sunday August 30, against the winners of the North Staffordshire & South Cheshire Premier League and the winners of the Northamptonshire County Premier League.

At least Himley managed to get some play, after the entire Birmingham League programme was washed out at the weekend.

Every game was abandoned and each team was awarded five points as barely a ball was bowled through the four divisions.

The action never started at Himley’s match at Walsall.

At Kidderminster, Walmley were 26-1 before play was halted due to the rain, while no play took place in the game between Wolverhampton and Kenilworth Wardens. No play took place in division one.

In Division Two, games involving Old Elizabethans and Penn, Tamworth and Cannock and leaders Wombourne and St Georges were among those that fell by the wayside.

Milford Hall did reach 68-3 in their division three clash with Newport, but the covers soon went back on for good.
