Two youngsters had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stranded 30ft up a cliff at a Black Country nature reserve.

The boys, both aged 12, got stranded on Barry Bank, in the Barrow Hill nature reserve, in Pensnett.

Firefighters from Brierley Hill joined rope together to form a chain to bring the unnamed youngsters down at around 4.19pm yesterday.

Watch commander Russ Clark told how crews were on site for around 20 minutes.

He said: “The boys had gone up this little path and reached this almost virtual cliff face.”

Both boys were unhurt following the incident and did not require hospital treatment.

Mr Clark added that the crew had been to four or five incidents at the nature reserve, off Vicarage Road, recently.
