Di Matteo backs Cox to shine again
Wednesday 29th July 2009, 10:48AM BST.
Albion head coach Roberto Di Matteo has backed summer signing Simon Cox to discover his scoring touch after striker’s unhappy return to Swindon.
The former Robins man completed his first 90 minutes in Baggies colours against his old club last night, but is still looking for his first goal for his new club.
Di Matteo said: “Simon is a bit behind at the moment because he has had a bit of a problem with his ankle and you can see he hasn’t quite got his sharpness.
“I am sure that once he gets one goal under his belt he will be fine.”
But the Italian delivered more bad news on James Morrison, whose comeback from a heel injury has been delayed again.
The head coach said: “James hasn’t started his training yet so we are expecting him to start training next week.
“It is a concern that he is a bit late coming back into the squad, but he will be back and when he is he is a very good player for this club, so we will wait for him.”
