Wolvestock Festival is kicking off

Saturday 25th July 2009, 10:25AM BST.

Country singer Dee D. James, looks forward to all the fun of the fair at Wolvestock in East Park over the weekend.Country music fans from across the country were hot-footing it to the Black Country this weekend to enjoy an annual festival.

Wolvestock 15 kicked off in East Park today and continues until tomorrow, with entertainment running from 11am to 8.30pm on both days.

Camping tickets have sold out in what is set to be yet another successful year for the largest free country music festival in the UK.

Around 20,000 revellers are expected to attend over the weekend.

Bands and dance acts will be performing on the Arena and the Up Country Dance stages.

Other attractions include a family funfair with bouncy castles, along with stalls, food and bars.

Jim Duncan, aged 60, has booked bands and run the music side of the festival since Wolvestock began in 1994.

Jim, of Brewood, said: “How this year goes depends totally on the weather. If it’s a sunny weekend we will get 15,000 to 18,000 people. If it’s not, we can cut that in half.”

I thought this was happening in Wolverhampton. Why would people be hot-footing it to the Black Country?
