Saturday 25th July 2009, 11:35AM BST.
Kidderminster 2 Albion XI 2
Lateef Elford-Alliyu celebrated his first professional contract by firing a young Albion team’s equaliser against a full-strength Kidderminster.
The Baggies had to fight back from 2-1 down despite taking the lead from a Josh Knight penalty.
Knight scored on 27 minutes but Harriers when level seven minutes later when former Albion trainee Brian Smikle crossed for Matthew Barnes-Homer to head home.
Kyle Hadley fired Mark Yates’ side ahead just before the hour-mark.
Knight had rattled the crossbar before Elford-Alliyu produced a cool finish into the bottom corner with seven minutes to go.
First-team coach Michael Appleton, who watched from the stands as Keith Downing managed Albion, said: “We rode our luck at times but we had three or four boys out there who have never played opponents anywhere near that level in terms of athleticism and physicality.”
“To their immense credit, the lads really stuck at it.”

The youngsters done well to get a draw at Kiddy it is about time we had a few come through the system but we were dire at Walsall. I realise it is only pre-season but we simply have individuals who are not good enough. Cech and Greening both looked un-interested and Luke Moore walks around with his usual limp. With Cech unsure of his future and Greenings mind obviously being elsewhere, where does the quality come from to get us promoted? I am a little concerned.

Just read that KP doesn’t want to stop at The Blues, he wants to go to Leicester, anybody any the wiser + Kamara in the deal for Jonno??
It all seems a bit crazy to me!!

I saw Smikle a few years back in pre-season against Telford and thought he looked quite handy – I did wonder whatever happened to him. Hope he does well at Kiddy.
