A major commuter route was sealed off as emergency crews battled in vain to save the life of a woman following a head-on smash.
Police sealed off part of the A449 near to the Stewponey junction for four hours after the crash which has also left a man fighting for his life. Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 3pm yesterday following the collision between a Westfield sports car and a Toyota Yaris.

The driver of the Toyota, a woman, in her 60s, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Dudley’s Russells Hall Hospital by land ambulance.
