cricket-ball.jpgConfident Cannock skipper Liam Hickey believes his side could have the psychological edge in the title race.

The third-placed blitzed championship rivals Brockhampton last weekend and host fourth-placed Old Elizabethans on Saturday.

Hickey reckons their stunning win over Brockhampton, after they bowled them out for just 43, will give them an edge in the coming weeks.

The skipper who also hailed Mike Talbot’s 5-9, said: “It sends shockwaves through the league. Hopefully teams will stand up and think Cannock are the wrong team to play.

“Hopefully we can keep the buzz about us and put pressure on teams before a ball is bowled.”

Wombourne skipper Liam Hughes has welcomed the pressure that will come with being the new pacesetters in Division Three.

Hughes’ side climbed into pole position last weekend following a tense one-wicket win over Penn

He said: “It was a fantastic win for us. It shows our strength in depth. We keep finding ways to win and I am happy to be top of the table.

“That’s where we want to be and we won’t be changing our approach. We will still go out looking to play positive cricket.”

Penn host Ombersley on Saturday hoping to edge away from the drop zone.

They are just eight points off second bottom St Georges, following their one wicket defeat to leaders Wombourne last weekend.
