Wednesday 15th July 2009, 10:25AM BST.

clayton-inceWalsall goalkeeper Clayton Ince is expecting swift progress at the Banks’s Stadium after signing a new one-year deal.

The veteran shotstopper penned an extension yesterday, which includes a further one-year option, becoming the final out-of-contract player to sign on.

Now the Trinidad and Tobago international, who was 37 on Monday, expects the side to build on their progress since manager Chris Hutchings took over in January.

Ince said: “We put down the foundations last season and did well. We have some promising young lads and an excellent team spirit, which will count for a lot.

“I think League One is going to be just as exciting as the Premier League and Championship this season.

“There are some big clubs and it’s going to be a real challenge for us, but we have a good team and a fighting chance.”
