Little’s overtime in ‘Impossible Job’
Friday 3rd July 2009, 9:58AM BST.
Wolves’ forgotten man Mark Little is doing overtime in his quest to complete the ‘Impossible Job’ this summer.
The Molineux academy graduate has ensured a nightmare spell on the sidelines with knee injuries, since playing alongside Fabrice Muamba and Lee Cattermole for England under-19′s.
Little’s task is arguably the hardest of anyone at the club, as he has player of the year Kevin Foley and £2million new signing Greg Halford ahead of him in the pecking order.
But the 20-year-old is fully fit again now and determined to do all he can to impress after pulling out all the stops.
He said: “I was in for a couple of weeks before we came back for the start of pre-season training.
“I’m trying to do all I can to impress the gaffer. I’m happy to be back because it’s a new chapter in my life.
“We’re in the best league in the world now, it’s the aim to stay in it and get in the team.
“I have to be better than Kevin Foley – it’s the hardest job in the club being better than the player of the year.
“Myself and Kevin are different full-backs and he has shown frightening consistency, but you never know, the gaffer might look somewhere else.
“Speaking to our assistant Terry Connor and I am part of the squad, the same as I always have been.”
“It’s the same challenge as when I first got into the team. I’ve done it before and I need to do it again.”
