If you went down to the Dudley Castle and Zoo, you’d get a big surprise – as 3,000 children and their parents enjoyed a Teddy Bear’s picnic.

Thousands descended on the tourist attraction for the second-ever Teddy Bear’s Picnic yesterday.

And children’s favourite Peppa Pig proved the biggest draw for the excited under fives who came down to the event.

Other fun included the teddy bear trail and the Dinosaur Rock puppet show.

There were also singalong and dance sessions and Animal Antics with the zoo’s intrepid explorer, Dr Dudley.

Sunshine shone on visitors with all the events being held within the 11th century castle’s courtyard.

Energetic youngsters were able to jump up and down on their very own bouncy castle.

And the zoo’s very own characters Jambi the tiger and friends were on hand to join in the fun.

Press officer Jill Hitchman said: “It was a fantastic day – it shows how the event has grown since last year because of the sheer number of families and there children who were able to come along.

“Children were able to have a look at the animals while they were here as well. I think everyone had a nice day and the weather really made it.”
