Villa keep tabs on Arsenal’s Senderos
Wednesday 1st July 2009, 12:23PM BST.
Villa are keeping tabs on Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos as the search to replace retired skipper Martin Laursen continues.
Reports claim the claret and blues are considering a move for the Swiss centre-back, who is rated at around £5million.
The 24-year-old was on loan at AC Milan last season, but the Italian giants decided against making his move to the San Siro permanent.
Arsenal are thought to be willing to listen to offers for the defender, following the arrival of Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax.

“as their search for retired skipper Martin Laursen continues.”
He’s disappeared? How tragic. Has someone notified his family?

While Blues and Wolves are gathering pace in the transfer market, Villa again are dragging their heels. It was obvious to anyone who could see, Laursen was an expired force (sadly) we should have been looking for a replacement for him 18 months ago. Gareth Barry had shown his intent over a year ago, we should have been looking to replace him then, now we are supposedly looking at a player that neither Ac Milan or Arsenal want!!!! what the hell is going on at VP?
We have lost two major players with no one in the team good enough to take their place, we were already half a dozen players short before they left. We will probably sign a couple of players before the deadline, but by the time the others have cherry picked the best of whats available, were going to be the bridesmaid again.
What happened to Doyle, we were all guns blazing for him last season, now Wolves have beaten us to the draw, I gotta feeling things are not well at VP.

Careful Oldburyite and Dave, it’s not the done thing to critisise ‘O’Great One’ on here! I did so 12 months ago and got ripped apart for daring to criticise his purchases of runners, workers and trackers back, instead of players with some style, grace or class.
I do have a very strong opinion about ‘O’Great One’ at the moment, but it won’t find it’s way onto this page because there are just too many Villa fans for whom ‘O’Great One’ can do no wrong and they fear that open critism will drive him out of the club. It shouldn’t, of course. Criticism is best used as a motivation! I’m just not sure with ‘O’Great One’. He just doesn’t seem to like to have his decisions or methods questioned!
All I will say is, there is a growing voice of frustration amongst Villa fans, not only on here but also on a number of other footie sites!
This season could well be ‘Make or Break’ for ‘O’Great One’!

It comes to something when i have to apologize to my 10 year old daughter for introducing her to my chosen football team as yet again they are promsing the earth but not delivering, Unfortunately she is hooked on the Villa since the day i took her to Villa park to watch us beat Bolton 4-1 so I guess it’s now in her blood unless like many of her friends she chooses to change allegiances which by the way i wouldn’t discourage especially when i read reports that we are after a clown like Senderos.. For pity’s sake what the hell is going on at Villa park It really gets on my goat so much that I’ve decided that I won’t be going to any games this season unless we sign at least five top quality players. I’ve seen the light at last and It hurts me to say it but i fear we are destined to always be a mid table team. Just to think that this is being typed out by a Martin O’Neil fanatic but I’m slowly changing my opinion of the man as yet again it seems as though he’s going to wait until the last few days until he signs any players. Diabolical !!!!!
