Dot’s joy at bus stop victory

Wednesday 1st July 2009, 10:30PM BST.

Bus Stop Campaigner Dot BachePensioners are celebrating victory in their campaign for a bus stop opposite retirement homes in a South Staffordshire village.

Three hundred people signed a petition backing the campaign led by Dot Bache.

Now the stop has been installed opposite Mill House in Mill Lane, Kinver.

Although there is a stop outside the accommodation, which older people use to catch the bus into Stourbridge, there was not one on the other side of the road to drop them off on their return.

Mrs Bache said this was not ideal as senior citizens with bags of heavy shopping struggled to walk back to Mill House.

She said: “The bus drivers were very good with us and would usually stop outside Mill House but the problem was it was not an official stop. All the residents at Mill House asked me to help and I started a petition.”
