Brewood face make or break run
Wednesday 1st July 2009, 5:00AM BST.
Brewood kick off a run of games this weekend that could make or break their title chances.
Dave Wedge takes his unbeaten side to Bloxwich for the start of a crucial three week schedule, that also pits Brewood against promotion hopefuls Wednesbury and Pelsall.
He saw Saturday’s clash with Old Wulfs Tettenhall washed out.
The skipper said: “We face a tough run of games over the next few weeks and we will have a clearer picture of how close it’s going to be at the top after that run of games.
“I am quite happy with how things have gone so far. If you had said at the start of the season that we would be in thrid place at the halfway stage, I would have taken that.”
Wedge was left frustrated by the weather on Saturday after seeing his side recover from 90-5 to 153-5, before the rain ended proceedings.
He said: “We had recovered well and were looking to push on for a score of around 200, which would have been competitive.
“It was frustrating when the rain came and we have lost a bit of ground on some of the other sides. But these things tend to even themselves out.
“We picked up a few points earlier in the season when most of the other games were washed out.”
Wedge faces a welcome selection headache for the weekend clash with Rob Brewer, Tim Friend and Will Marsh all back in contention.
