Baggies fans rewarded for support

SOCCER West Brom 25Albion fans praying for a repeat performance in the Championship have at least been given a repeat performance at the turnstiles.

The Baggies today revealed their walk-up prices for next season and are holding them at the same level as club’s title-winning Championship campaign of two years ago.

The decision extends Albion’s reputation as one of the League’s most cost-sensitive clubs which has seen them cutting prices in recent years in response to the gloomy economy.

The cheapest day-of-the-game purchases tickets available at Albion league games are now priced at £23 (£14 and £11 concessions) but the club is still eager to drive home savings of up to a third which can be had by buying season tickets.

An adult season ticket in the Birmingham Road End will cost £349 – saving £180 on match-day prices.

The Baggies have already shifted more than 16,000 season tickets despite relegation and can expect a fresh wave of enthusiasm when a new manager and new signings arrive.

Baggies finance director Mark Jenkins said: “We’re absolutely delighted that so many supporters have already committed themselves to the club for next season.

“The fact we have sold more than 16,000 season tickets amid the current recession underlines the loyalty of our fans.

“We want to say a big thank you to all those who have bought a season ticket and remind all other supporters they can still apply for a season ticket.

“We were also very mindful of the credit crunch when we finalised our 2009/10 matchday prices, which have been set at the same level as the last time we were in the Championship.”

The club have a limited number of the £49 junior season tickets left, which are only available when purchased with a full-paying adult season ticket.
