Wolves fans snap up season tickets
Friday 26th June 2009, 10:30AM BST.
Wolves fans have caught Premier League fever with over 19,000 season tickets snapped up for next season.
Hundreds have been bought in the first week of general sale online, before they go on sale in person on Monday.
The new figures mean the club are moving ever closer to a ceiling for season ticket sales of around 21,000 to 22,000.
This is to allow a maximum of 3,000 away supporters and to ensure a certain number of seats remain available to Wolves fans on a match-on-match basis.
Wolves sold 14,500 season tickets under the Early Bird scheme and, after the summer renewals, tickets went on sale via the loyalty scheme before going on general sale on Monday.
They were quickly snapped up, with the club selling 300 within the first hour of trading.
The new figures mean Wolves have already comfortably eclipsed last season’s total of around 17,800 season ticket holders.
Ticketing and membership manager Lynne O’Reardon said: “We continue to be very pleased with the take-up from supporters.
“We were expecting the large interest we received when tickets went on general sale for the first time on Monday, and managed to process 300 new applications within the first hour.
“It is great news we have now broken through the 19,000 barrier and, while there will be a ceiling put in place, there are still tickets available.
“We always felt limiting new applications to telesales only was the fairest way to deal with the initial rush, in terms of processing tickets for the first week of general sale.
“But ,as from 9am on Monday, supporters also have the extra option of turning up in person at the ticket office to purchase their seat.”
Tickets remain on sale via telesales on 0871 222 1877 and up until 1pm tomorrow, which is also the deadline for spreading the cost over six months via the instalment plan.
The plan enables supporters aged 18 or over to spread their season ticket payment over a six-month period.
Work is set to start shortly on increasing the capacity of Molineux to 29,400, by re-installing over 900 uncovered seats in the Jack Harris Stand/Billy Wright Stand corner, which were also used in the last Premier League season.
