Children at a second school in the Black Country have come down with the vomiting bug Norovirus.

But Causeway Green Primary School in Oldbury will remain open after health officials decided that the worst was over.

It comes two days after Tividale Community Primary School was forced to close until next Wednesday after youngsters became ill.

According to reports from parents, around 100 children at the Penncricket Lane school have contracted the sickness bug but this has not been confirmed by the school.

Headteacher Alan Wood said: “We have been working closely with the Health Protection Unit, the governors and the LEA while constantly monitoring the situation.

“We had a significant number of children off sick earlier in the week. However, staff remained largely unaffected and children are now returning to school and the worst seems to be over.”

One mother, who did not want to be named, said: “My daughter was off with sickness and diarrhoea. I spoke to the school who told me attendance was down to 75 per cent.

“They still won’t shut the school. I think it is ridiculous. There is no pattern to this because one school was closed but this one is staying open.”
