Brummies eye top four spot
Wednesday 24th June 2009, 7:28AM BST.
Birmingham Brummies aim to continue their push towards a top four Premier League place when they face Newcastle at Perry Barr.
The BRC Roofing Brummies have won their last three meetings and a win by more than six points against the Diamonds would propel them into the play-off positions.
They’ll be looking to set themselves up for the trip to Redcar tomorrow when they look to complete the double over the Teesside outfit.
Boss Graham Drury said: “It’s a big week for us and two good results would put us in a handy position.
“Four wins from six league meetings is good but it could have been better.
“We would have won up at Newcastle with a full strength team, so hopefully we can do the business tonight.”
Newcastle recently signed Dane Rene Bach to replace Steve Boxall and they have plenty of strength of their own at reserve in the experienced Craig Branney.
But Birmingham’s strength in the top five should prove too much.
Birmingham: James Cockle, Manuel Hauzinger, Robert Ksiezak, Ludvig Lindgren, Jason Lyons, Tomasz Piszcz, Richard Sweetman.
Newcastle: Rene Bach, Craig Branney, Jason King, Kenni Larsen, Trent Leverington, Adam McKinna, Derek Sneddon.
