A talk on ‘Style at the Seaside’ at Walsall Museum explored changing fashions in beachwear from the 19th century to the present day.

The talk ties in with Walsall Museum’s summer exhibition, Beside the Seaside, which celebrates the British seaside holiday in its heyday from the mid 19th century to the end of the 1950s.

Museum visitor assistant Claire Dolman drew on her extensive knowledge of fashion history to deliver an illustrated presentation showing the varied clothing people have worn at the beach from Victorian times to the present.

Video journalist Nicky Butler went along to find out more.
