Albion blog: The Replacements
Tuesday 23rd June 2009, 9:15AM BST.
Albion blogger Jarrod Hill is ahead of chairman Jeremy Peace and has already compiled his own shortlist for the vacant manager’s job.
I must have had a hundred conversations in the past week and a bit about who could be next into the hot seat at the Hawthorns, so I have decided to share what I have heard and get your feelings on the big decision.
The list of candidates linked to the job gets longer by the day but the most common names appearing on the gossip boards include Darren Ferguson, Alan Curbishley, Paul Ince, Alan Irvine, Derek McInnes and Aidy Boothroyd.
Other names appearing as having an outside chance are Gary Johnson, Paul Jewell and Steve McLaren.
Out of all the names two stand out a firm no.
A number of years ago, I had the misfortune to meet Paul Ince. He was rude, arrogant and I developed an instant dislike of him.
His short managerial career had minor success at lower-league level and, when combined with his infamous name in football, it resulted in him being given an opportunity at Blackburn he did not deserve.
Six months of inept decision making and dire football was enough for him to be given his P45 and shown the way out of Ewood Park.
I haven’t spoken to a single Albion fan that wants to see him at our club and, with him being a former Wolves captain, his appointment would in my opinion be both a football and PR disaster.
My other candidate for the bin would be Boothroyd, as he played a style of football at Watford that Albion fans would not be too keen on.
The many conversations I have had this week have nearly all surrounded three names in Peterborough’s Darren Ferguson, St Johnstone’s Derek McInnes and the out-of-work Alan Curbishley.
The one name that has slipped under the radar has been Gary Johnson at Bristol City.
His record is an impressive one, arguably with one glaring omission – he has no Premier League experience.
But, consequently, he has no real failures on his CV either. His teams play attractive football and, although limited on funding, has come close to securing Premier League football for a club lacking financial clout.
I would place him on the ‘to-be-interviewed’ list along with the three front runners.
My blog last week openly stated that my preferred choice would be Curbishley, but I would also be happy enough with Ferguson, McInnes or Johnson.
Whoever comes in will be walking into possibly our busiest summer ever.
Firstly they will need a backroom team putting in place, secondly they will need to assess the current squad and decide who can leave and who must stay.
Lastly, the new boss will need to put their own team of players together through the transfer system and get them to incorporate his ideas.
Sounds a lot to get done before August 8 doesn’t it?
One last thing I would like to mention, when will players realise they should be wary of what they say to the press.
The internet, Sky Sports and – dare I say it – blog forums means that we are constantly bombarded with endless information relating to our clubs and players.
Managers and players alike need to realise that bridges are built with fans over years of hard service, but burned in a blink of an eye.
Paul Robinson has served our club well over the past six years, but his loose comments since the end of the season has tainted most fans view of him.
Having read them, I found them so unnecessary.
Just a quick note to any players or managers that may read this, if you want to leave the club who have paid your salary and supported you for a number of years: -
Tell your agent not the press, do not tell tales out of class, do not kiss the badge unless you mean it, be respectful and that respect will be returned and always remember football is an incestuous business.
You never know when you will need to cross a bridge you burned years previously.
OK rant over. I hope my next blog is to discuss the arrival of our new manager, but who will it be?

Totally disagree with your first choice of Curbs Jarrod. He’s far too London centric, was hounded out of West Ham where they’d started out with respect for him; due to the poor style of football and poorer results. His Charlton success is way in the past and, – how many managers have real success at just one club? Because I think his has been and gone. He’s yesterday’s man; not for us.
Alan Irvine’s my choice – great grounding in management and on the way up in his career.

Aidy Boothroyd our saviour me thinks………
Steve Mcclaren oh yes…………..
Glenn Hoddle lovely………..
All the big names are there !
Cmon you Baggies…….
A big no for Curbishly and Boothroyd from me. Wouldn’t be unhappy with McInnes although Di Mattaeo would be my choice. Why you may ask?… why the hell not!
No not Curbishley, West ham fans hated his boring football. Yes he succeeded at Charlton but he was given an unbelievable amount of time to get it right, his 1st 3 years in the championship (or 2nd div as it was then)were dire and he only survived cos they were skint and couldnt afford to sack him.
Has to be someone young and hungry. Irvine or Ferguson. Someone who wants to better themselves and even use us as a stepping stone as that tends to be how it goes.
Sadly its too early for Derek McInnes and too risky. If we were in league 1 and rebuilding I`d say give him the job, but not in our present position.
I am surprised that you missed Irvine out altogether as he has done wonders at Preston and is VERY highly rated in the game.
Curbishley didn’t fancy the job last time around as he seems to think we are beneath him and only wants a club where he is top dog – that realistically is not happening at the Albion.
Boothroyd and Ince would take us back years in our progression with thier style (used loosely) of hoofball.
Personally I think McInnes is nailed on to take over as he will be a popular choice with fans, will know has to work within a tight financial structure, will give us a good few years as he has some affection for our club and Peace doesn’t have to shell out the sort of money he would have to for Ferguson.
Dave – I agree with you almost completely.
I don’t understand why Curbishley thinks so much of himself – nor why he’s still held high as a manager that EVERY club would want.
He last achieved a promotion, what, 15 years ago?? Therefore has NO IDEA what is involved/needed in the second tier of English football.
And his last job was a complete and utter failure.
Irvine.
I have no idea about the bloke other than he’s Scottish (and every good manager must be Scottish according to an article in a national broadsheet), and he was assistant to the Scottish (see) bloke at Everton.
Johnson.
Big in Latvia and Bristol (and Wycombe?).
McInnes.
Already a legend in his own lifetime at the Shrine – but so too was Nobson and look how that turned out! (Sorry about the typo which I didn’t see until I posted!) ;-)
My opinion is that we’re going to get a surprise from JP. No-one saw Mowbray coming – indeed I remember some of the same names being mentioned 2 and a half years ago as are being mentioned now – and I don’t think we’ll expect whoever is appointed.
What about Strachan? I hear his son’s out of a job too! So much for the Scottish argument!
Number 3 – what a call with Di Matteo!
I tip my cap to you!
Its simple if Peace can get someone not in a job then the 2 million he got for TM will pay this persons wages for the next few years so the manager change would cost him nothing!!!!
I’m sure Irvine and Boothroyd’s names have been considered because their style is physical, and Stoke played physical football and stayed up.
Direct, physical football might not get you beyond mid-table in the Premier League, but it seems to be the way to survive. Maybe that’s the thinking behind Irvine and Boothroyd.
I’d rather watch great football in the Championship against Newcastle, Notts Forest and Leicester than watch long-ball in the Premier League against Hull, Wigan and other naff teams. Anyway, I can’t afford the prices.
Only one name for me thats Alan Irvine, seems to have respect from the players.. Whoever it is lets get behind them back to the Premier..
Good blog again Jarrod. I’m with you on the shorlist (and the omissions) with one exception, and I prepare myself for castigation. I don’t want McInnes. Let me explain.
He’s had one very short job in management. Whilst this has been successful, it’s the equivalent of getting Leicester promoted from League One to the Championship. He has no experience of management at Championship level. Whilst maybe one day he will be ready, I think it’s too soon. Let me ask you this; would you have even considered McInnes had he not been Albion captain?
We as a club are looking to get promoted at the first time of asking and the last thing we need is to have a manager who is going to be on a very steep learning curve not just this season but the following one in the Premiership. We need to stop thinking small, taking on young, upcoming staff (managers AND players) with potential and start planning for the future with experience. We need to appoint a manager not just for this season but for next season and the season after as well. We are a club that needs to stop yo-yoing, get promoted and cement our place in the Premiership in the way Bolton, Charlton, Reading, Wigan and Blues did. For me, there is only one name on the list that has the experience of doing that and that is why, in my opinion, the only name we should be after is Curbishley.
As regards to Dave’s post (1), he walked out on West Ham due to the Icelandics, but I agree the fans were starting to get unsettled and he more than likely walked just before they completely turned on him. Oh and as he’s not with a club there’s no compensation so it’s nailed on Peace will employ him!
Anybody considered Marin Jol??
Even Martin!!
I trust Peace to make the right decision he didn’t do too badly with TM who was low profile when given the job. Robson was a fairish appointment at the time and Peace had a part in the appointment of Megson. At the time I don’t think Megson was a popular choice with the fans.
Peace has a lot tied up in the club so I don’t think that compensation payments will be at the top of his concerns – more the right bloke for the job.
Johnson has done well at Yeovil, Bristol and Latvia. A similar long term club developer to how we thought TM was. Curbishley is a similar football man. McInnes – great bloke but a risk as he lacks experience.
I know he has left us with broken hearts twice before, but I’d love to see Big Ron Atkinson in the dug out again!
He has seen a lot of the Albion over the past year and his comments around where TM went wrong do strike a chord.
Failing that Gordon Strachan would be my shout – an excellent footballing brain IMHO, and he’s ginger – remember how well we did under the last “ginger one” ;)
Definitely not Dingle Ince, or Hoofroyd, and personally, much as I love McInnes and all he did in stripes, I think he is just a little too raw at the moment.
What I would say, whoever we sign, I would like to see our fans get right behind them from the word go. I have to say it took too long in my opinion for TM to get backing from the whole ground…. lets get behind whoever is appointed and roar the stripes to the title!
9- Direct physical football just about kept Stoke up, but it didn’t keep Derby up, or us under Megson. Reading and Fulham got success playing football. I think there’s more to it than style of football and I don’t think it’s wise to fall into the trap of thinking clogging means survival.
Besides, hiring a clogger automatically means a clearout of a lot of our ‘footballers’, and whatever you think of them, we aint gonna replace them with better players now we’re a Championship club (who’s gonna come?).
Some good suggestions Bomber, a few reservations……
Curbishley- unattractive football, signed Neill, Bowyer, Dyer at West Ham, the sort of player we want?
Irvine- Apparently very direct. Preston fans don’t seem overwhelmingly supportive of him on their forums.
Ince, Boothroyd- Hooooof, no thanks.
Di Matteo- MK Dons were up there when he was hired and have a lot of cash. They finished ‘up there’, so in a sense, has he really moved the club forward?
Captain Dirk- Inexperienced, never came across as an intelligent thinker. Maybe worth a gamble.
Jewell- failed at Derby and in last year at Wigan.
My vote would be Fergie, though can’t help think JP will want to avoid compo. Posh fans adore him, preaches good football, student of the game. Johnson’s also an interesting shout!!
TM until last week was a popular manager with the majority of our fans, he didn`t arrive at the shrine with bucket loads of experience.
Therefore i dont think too much stock should be placed in the “experienced manager” appointment.
If he has the experience AND is the right man then perfect, i am not convinced that Curbishley is the right man for us.
The names Johnny Giles and Ron Atkinson spring to mind.
Two inexperienced managers who combined, masterminded our best years.
Not Curbs please. He’s been out for too long and didn’t exactly set the world on fire.Fergie Jnr, McInnes or Di Matteo would be my choice. They haven’t got Prem experience but play the sort of football Baggies supporters (and any real supporters of football) want to see.
Apologies, MK Dons were expected to be up there when Di Matteo was appointed…..and they were, not really punching above their weight as such!!!
12- Martin Jol’s at Ajax…..not a chance!!

On the transfer page Gera has no regretts on leaving Albion. I bet he can can think of 15,000 of no regrets every week that enter his bank account!!!.
fergie, decka , irvine, di matteo in that order for me, but with our chairman who knows . I am going to the Albion for a meeting tomorrow with the work so I may just throw my hat in the ring. I have managed an under 10′s side so I have a little experience but the biggst thing that may sway the job in my favour is I am really cheap to employ!!! lol

Alot of these names mentioned scare me as does my post name i suppose. If mcinnes was so good why didnt aberdeen or hibs aproach him for there jobs recently plus former players coming back to manage very rarely works,Di mattoe had one of the highest wage budgets to work from with mk dons and failed to get them up.Heres a whacky new name to consider brian laudrup,he recentlty did a fine job at getafe in spain and was quoted at looking for a decent job in england.i feel laudrup would av the same affect as jon tiggana did a fulham

Whoever we chose will be a gamble. Whether it be Curbishley, McInnes, Ferguson jnr,Irvine etc. Curbishley – Will his heart be in it, will he have the enthusiasm, will he be off as soon as London calls or will he have the nous and experience to move us forward and establish us in the Premier?
Darren Ferguson, 2 successful promotions in the lower divisions. Appears impressive but will the Championship sort him out and show that he’s a flash in the pan or will it be his platform to move on to greater things?
Derek McInnes, Promotion to the SPL with St. Johnstone. Not so impressive but a plus on his CV and a bigger success there than Owen Coyle and where is he now? Has connections at the club, apparently ambitious, articulate and hungry to succeed. Apparent lack of experience according to some on these blogs.
What confuses me is the so called lack of experience McInnes has whereas others are advocating Ferguson Jnr does. Both are still untried in the Championship at management level, but McInnes was captain of our beloved club that gained promotion to the EPL. Does this mean that he knows what it takes to get out of the Championship?
The truth is that it’s all hypothetical and none of us know what the correct appointment shall be.
Me personally – I’d rather go for a younger, hungrier manager whether it be McInnes or Ferguson. But whoever it shall deserves our full support! I’m sure they will get it!
I would tend to side with those who are suggesting a younger, up and coming manager such as Ferguson or McInnes, rather than a Curbishley. I think you can rule out Hoofroyd because of the style of football and Ince because he’s a rubbish manager (although that didn’t stop us appointing Robson). No doubt there will be a further week of speculation and then endless haggling over money if we do go for someone who is currently employed.
Enoch – Laudrup – Great shout mate. Young, done a bit already, and has a reputation that the players can look up to. I Also like McLaren, but too pricey for us I would think.I think JP will pull a surprise out of the bag, can’t see it being any of the old british ones.
Hi Jarod.
Very interested in what you had to say about Paul Ince, I’d have no problem with him being an ex-Dingle but your comments on his personality ring too many alarm bells. It made me think of Robbo’s comments and today’s reported remarks from Gera. What it brings home to me is that inflated pay packets have turned players into spoilt prima donns’s, with the loyalty of alley cats. They have no concept of the feelings of the fans, who struggle to pay to keep them in their lives of luxury. Oh, sorry, add our ex-manager to that list.
Gary Johnson is an interesting suggestion. He always comes over well when interviewed on the telly. Unlike some managers he seems to have an open mind, ie going to Latvia to manage. He has not had a big job ( with due respect to Bristol City, big club with no money,) and I’m sure would love the chance to manage the players we have.
I think I’m being swayed by people into agreeing that Alan Curbishley may have been out of the game too long.
Likewise I was against DM because of his lack of experience. However I think young and hungry could be the way to go. Comments from various ex-players about his knowledge of the game and his ability to get the best out of players are in his favour. Bobby Williamson has been mentioned as a possible assistant, another ex-Baggie who has experience as amanager in both Scotland and the CCC.
Paul Jewell is another that shouldn’t be written off. He took on mission impossible at Derby but more important his private life was in meltdown at the time. If he’s got himself together, could be an inspired choice.
Alan Irvine, I’d be more than happy with. He may play long ball at PNE but this could be down to ‘needs must.’ He has a wealth of experience from his Everton days.
I think Darren Ferguson may involve a long and bloody fight to get away from Peterborough and then might not be here for too long.
Aidy Boothroyd I’d be happy to see here if we were in the position we were when GM came here and needed someone to drag us up kicking and spitting, but we’re not, so no thanks.
BFR? I’d be there to man the barricades. Apart from what he’s done to us in the past, his football credentials are dubious to say the least, don’t forget his comments on Desailly.

Most people seem to be banging on about experience. Okay, I know that we need to get straight back into the premier, but I would like to see it done playing the style of football we have been playing of late. McInnes would probably be a loyal manager, having beeen a player here, and appears to be hungry for success. The same hunger could be leveled at Ferguson. I wouldn’t like Ince or Boothroyd as I think they would destroy our style of play.
I don’t think a big name would help, since it is my belief that they would use the Baggies as a shopwindow to advertise their success and would leave us for a bigger or better club as soon as one came sniffing round.
Our 4 most successful managers over the last 30+ years all came to us with little experience and certainly no huge reputations as managers (Giles, BFR, Meggo & Mowbray) – so its certainly possible to repeat that with someone like McInnes (who I actually mentioned when Robbo left), or Ferguson. I just worry about their abilities to establish a club in the prem…. but I guess its possible.
Of the more experienced candidates then Curbishly, Strachan or even Houlier could all do a job.
Whoever comes in has got to hit the ground running with the club – there can be little time to “settle in”. I also hope that Appleton is kept on by whoever comes in.
As long as we can hold on to most of the decent players we have I don’t think we need too many new players – maybe a forward and a CB – other than that – lets get started !!!!!!!

i don’t understand these fans saying mccines doesn’t have experience.he has as much even more experience than strachan, curbishley and ferguson.1 he’s played in it as a captain and got us promoted so he no’s what its like. 2 how many years ago did curbishley manage there? mcciness and ferguson are both known for playing passing football.so for me there’s your 2 front runners. mccines will bring that passion and i think a mixture of players(which TM never bought) and ferguson is alex ferguson’s son who has back 2 back promotions.whoever we get outof those 2 i don’t mind.WAS TONY MOWBRAY HEARD OF WHEN WE APPOINTED HIM AND LOOK WHAT HE DID!

Personally Gary Johnson gets my vote but there are some interesting options out there that I would be equally happy with (irvine, Fergusson). I am surprised that no-one has mentioned Chris Coleman since he is a good manager working with no money at Cov and has experience of Premiership and continental football.

Since the on off saga of would TM stay or go started i have posted numerous comments that Gordon Strachen would be an ideal replacement, therefore I am glad to see that he is starting to get a mention in the comments above.
He has the experience and knowledge to walk straight into the club and get us back up, a job I dont think is going to be as easy as many seem to think, that why i believe we need experience rather than go backwards and take a risk on somebody like D Mcinnes

JP time to make a manager appointment thats gonna take us over that last little hill ,we nearly there ,and i feel this season we can swing it and get down the other side and keep in the prem and stop yo yo times..my list of managers who wuold do this are…ERRICKSSON,JOL,CURBISHLY,HOULIER,FURGUSSON,MCKINNESS

Don’t know whether I like any of the names touted but I don’t have a great record in this as I haven’t liked any of the last four appointments to begin with!! It needs to be a strong character to keep the squad together and to get them on board as quickly as possible. It needs someone to carry the Mowbray vision forward and to teach it how to defend and score!! Seriously want us to play in the same way but with a bit more bite. Haven’t got a clue who its going to be but I am sure JP will surprise us

35- Gordon Strachan
Celtic fans were largely chuffed to get rid of Strachan and replace him with Mowbray.
I think that tells us all we need to know about whether Strachan is a good appointment.

Good blog Jarrod although I don’t agree with Curbishley at all. Ferguson gets my vote but I’d be more than happy if we went with McInnes. Both are young managers, ambitious, like to play football the right way and are students of the game. These qualities fit the JP mantra and neither would try and do anything radical about our current style of play. Except add a bit of steel to the defence and middle of the park.
Completely agree with you about Robinson, his position at the club has become untenable and why he said what he did is beyond me. It shows a total lack of respect. He’s totally ruined his relationship with the fans and the club now and has to go.

You’ve got no chance of getting Gary Johnson, the guy just signed a new four year deal at City. You lot have got big city syndrome, we have plenty of financial clout andBristol can hold it’s own against clubs like yours after all aren’t you just a suburb of Birmingham. Get Real!

When Derek McInnes wore the blue and white he played with one word-passion. If he is appointed I can’t see him managing any other way than when he was a player. He played with pride and he will manage with pride. When things are going pear shaped on the pitch you need a man who will sort it, and not take second best. For me D M IS THE MAN.

Firstly let your feelings not get in the way of your head. Ok so Paul Ince was rude and uncooperative. As a WOlves Fan lets get away from these prejucices which cloud any involvement we have between our espective teams. Listen you had Mark Venus on your Staff – he did a job for you. Ok we had Bully -Thompson – David Burnside-and Robbie Dennison. Ok they were superflous to your needs. However i can go back many years when we had a certain Ronnie Allen who was a MEGA Star for the Baggies- He did a Brilliant Job for us – so why no Paul Ince – beacause he played for other teams – do you reject Man U – Liverpool – West Ham and others. Wise up folks Albion are a great Club – don’t listen to prejudcies. Football is a Business -it’s not Sport anymore

I have decided after much thought to apply for the job myself. I played Subbuteo from the age of 7 until nearly 12, I understand the offside rule and currently Manage a side in Canada. My current employers will not stand in my way if the Mecca of football decides to discuss terms. I manage a Celtic supporters team and they have strongly advised against Strachan. Stating that although successful the football was dire, shoddy and painful to watch. If I’m overlooked this time, I would like to the appointment of Irvine he’s driven like football on the ground and has put the lily whites back on the map. At first hearing Mowbray had left I was upset, but now he goes with my best wishes, he’ll make the bhoys play decent football. It’s a shame Sentanta has gone belly up! thanks for the blog Jarrod! and Robinson who so?

Ince would be the worst appointment by far, any of the others would do as long as they kept the right players and continued 2 play the attacking game as well as strengthening the back line too.
My top 3 choices would be Mciness, Irvine or Curbs, if we appoint one of those 3, we will be boinging back first time around.

Rogerwolf 45 – decent post mate – however I don’t want Ince because of his Wolves connections but because I don’t rate him as a manager or a person, but you’re right about not letting petty rivalry get in the way of the right appointment.
SGRED 40 – you sound like a worried man…. I remember your mates at Bristol rovers telling us how great you all are when we met them in the cup… it ended 5.0 if i remember right.
You had one half decent season a while back (but bottled it at the end)…. your manager would walk up the M5 to join the Albion !!

Well, i’ve posted several times on here in recent weeks that Dave Jones would be the best choice (just look at his consistant record at several clubs at all levels)IMO. So i wont bother to add any further comment on other candidates, just to say this.
Whoever gets the nod from JP, i just hope he is deemed (by the board at least)to be the best man for the job, and not as i fear, appointed because there was no compo to pay out. Meaning, in effect, that the £2M+ compo we got from Celtic was a nice little Brucie bonus for the clubs coffers! If we need to spend the entire £2M+ on getting the RIGHT man in, then so be it!

Well if Boothroyd is the next manager I really feel like giving them the season ticket back (obviously I wont but you know what angle I am coming from).
I have emailed Albion on the enquires email address stating my anger at the thought of Boothroyd. I have not had a response nor do I even expect the email reacing Peace, but it was kind of satisfying to type what I thought.

michael laudrup is in the running and would
be a name to put bums on seats but he had
the sack from spartak moscow in april for
4 defeats on the bounce. question would he see
us as a steping stone to a bigger club and have
we got the time for him to get use to english
football?

My choice would be DEREK Mckinnes and Michael Appleton which I hope it will be. There is another name out there I can think of who has got a team out of the Conference and into the league 2 MARK WRIGHT I wonder if his name is down there somewhere ?

Aidy Boothroyd is def a no no! His style in which his teams play in is awful 2 watch. Same goes for Irvine. Not sure on Gary johnson either.
Does anyone know what Guss Poyet is up to now?? He may have a job now, im not sure? But think he would be a great appointment.
When at Tottenham with Ramos, he insisted on attacking, flowing football that Tottenham and ourselves are renowned for. He always seemed 2 have more of an idea than that other guy who got sacked and maybe he would relish the chance 2 manage on his own!
Curbishley has always been the talk amongst fans every time we have no manager or the current one is rumoured 2 go. Think he would be good as well and is proven, quality manager that knows what he’s doin but then his style is “hoof it” would he come 2 a compromise? I doubt it.
I would also be happy with Darren fergusson and maybe there are one or two not even on the shortlist, relative unknown gems like traitor TM was.

After reading through this excellent blog I would recommend Nigel Pearson – his name has only been noted once as I can see. He knows the club and Chairman and in my opinion in his short spell as temporary manager we showed signs of recovery.
He has done an extremely good job at Leicester and maybe reluctant to leave but I’m sure he could work well with Appy and is known to some of the current squad and backroom staff.
We do need to appoint a younger manager as the likes of Curbishley, Strachan, Jewell, Worthington and Sanchez have been around the block several times and not really proved anything. If Pearson was not available then Irvine, Ferguson Jnr, Di Matteo should be in the frame. As much as I like the idea of Derek McInnes he is relatively inexperienced compared to the other younger guys but again a partnership with Appy could prove successful. I do think Appy should be in the equation, he has proved to be a great club man and is well aware of our youth stars who should now be given consideration instead of raiding Europe for journeymen who have no interest in the club other than wages.
With regard to Robinson a good servant who has gone sour – had a terrible season should have been dropped to make way for Cech but was obviously a Mowbray favourite, Lets clear out the dross Robinson, Moore, Valero, Brunt, Beattie and start rebuilding with the likes of Dorrans who was totally under utilised by TM.
In conclusion I have no problems with JP, he has ensured the club is solvent and managers & players should start understanding football clubs are businesses and have to produce sound final accounts. As we all know there are still many clubs in serious debt and i cant wait for certain Russians, Arabs and Americans to pull the plug and take their money and run. We are the Baggies a solvent club with a great tradition and will remain FOREVER BOING BOING.
