Man injured in bridge fall

Monday 22nd June 2009, 11:30AM BST.

A man suffered a head injury after falling 10ft from a bridge into a canal.

The victim, in his mid 40s, was sitting on the Catshill Junction canal bridge, off Lindon Road, Brownhills, when he fell.

Two onlookers went to his rescue and dragged him from the water and battled to revive him.

The Midlands Air Ambulance was scrambled shortly after 5pm on Saturday. Ambulance Service spokesman John Hawker said: “It is believed the man landed half in the water and half on the canal towpath.”
