A suspected knife attacker who allegedly stabbed a man outside a bookies’ in Wolverhampton was today named as one of the most wanted men in the West Midlands.

Leon Kerr, aged 23, is being hunted over the attack on 46-year-old Clifton Chambers, who was stabbed twice in the chest outside William Hill in Whitmore Reans in March. Officers say he suffered life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened at the Avion Centre branch of the shop at around 1.15pm on March 27.

Detectives who have examined CCTV and taken witness statements want to arrest Kerr, who has had links to Leicester Street in Whitmore Reans. Kerr has now been added to the West Midlands Police most wanted website, which features four men officers want to quiz in connection with Wolverhampton crimes.

They include Derek Jones, aged 35, who is being sought by police investigating an operation which allegedly moved hard drugs such as cocaine and heroin between the Black Country and Scotland. Officers swooped in the Penn and Tettenhall areas of the city, and Scotland, to arrest three women and a man as part of a probe into the network.

Also wanted is 21-year-old Siamand Jalal Abdulqudir, who is alleged to have attacked city takeaway staff before setting fire to their restaurant.

Abdulqudir is on the run after failing to answer police bail and is being sought after violence at Fella’s takeaway in Rookery Street, Wednesfield.

Detectives believe he may have fled the country.

Murder suspect Thuy An Mao, in his 40s or early 50s, may also have left the UK. He is wanted over the death of 38-year-old Wolverhampton restaurant owner Jenny Lam, who was attacked in the Aphrodite restaurant, Stafford Street, in 2004.

Miss Lam, who had a 16-year-old son, remained on life support for five months before dying from severe chemical burns. An inquest ruled she was unlawfully killed.
