Hart goes to Birmingham for season

Monday 22nd June 2009, 10:09AM BST.

joehart1Birmingham have completed the signing of Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart on a season-long loan.

The player will be officially unveiled after England’s under-21 European Championship campaign finishes in Sweden, with Stuart Pearce’s side already into the semi-finals.

Following the 2-0 win over Spain on Thursday, Blues concluded negotiations with City and the Shrewsbury-born keeper.

The 22-year-old is determined to force his way into full England reckoning for the World Cup and wants regular football next season, albeit on loan.

His path at City has been curtailed ever since the arrival of Shay Given from Newcastle in January, who is manager Mark Hughes’ first choice.
