Attention not a concern for Wicker

cricket-ball.jpgWalsall captain Paul Wicker isn’t concerned about receiving special attention as they bid to climb the table.

They host mid-table Leamington Spa on Saturday looking to build on their superb win at league leaders Knowle and Dorridge last weekend, with Andy Gray spinning them to success with a four-wicket haul.

He said: “We don’t mind if people start paying attention to us, it’s just making sure we are doing what we need to do.”

But Wicker knows Leamington can be a tough proposition.

He said: “They are a dangerous side. They are quite unpredictable in the performances they put in. It depends what team turns up.”

Andy Miller will come in for Lionel Dembedza in the only change for Walsall.

Skipper Greg Wright has called for a collective effort as his resurgent Himley outfit face up to the loss of Tim Heap.

The seamer will be sidelined for a minimum of three weeks due to a groin injury and Wright is hopeful some of the Stourbridge Road’s young guns will help fill the void, starting with the weekend trip to Moseley.

Wright said: “We need to rally round while Tim is out.

“You are obviously going to miss a bowler of his experience and abiity, but the younger lads and all the bowlers in general have been bowling well.”
