Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Taundry aiming to be a fixture

Walsall midfielder Richard Taundry has underlined his ambition to become undroppable at Walsall.
The utility player suffered a stuttering end to last season and is determined to prove his versatility.
The Saddlers return for pre-season training in a fortnight and Taundry reckons his ability to slot in anywhere means he will be a valuable asset to boss Chris Hutchings.
He said: “I haven’t got a particular position so I have to move around, but you can look at it as being useful because I can be used all over the pitch.
“When people get injured, that’s where it comes in because you are useful as you can play anywhere.
“I’m not really sure where I prefer to play, I feel comfortable wherever.
“I don’t really mind where I play as long as I’m getting a bit more involved.”
The 20-year-old feels he improved last season, where he made 40 appearances and played in four different positions.
But Taundry was left feeling frustrated at the end of the campaign, after a series of niggling injuries restricted him to just three starts between January and May.
He said: “It was annoying last year. As soon as the gaffer came in I played a few games and then got injured.
“I feel I made progress, I just set myself back a little with the injuries.”

I like Taundry, he is a Dean Keates-type of player – fully committed and works hard for the team. He is also quite skilfull and will, I believe, be a good asset this season. I’m not sure of his best position though – it might be holding midfielder or right back but not right midfield.
