School’s Dame is in the clear

Tuesday 16th June 2009, 11:30AM BST.

An award-winning Black Country headteacher and two senior staff will not face any action following an inquiry into claims of irregularities in school attendance figures.

The claims dated back to between 2004 and 2007, when Dame Mo Brennan was head of Hillcrest School and Community College, in Netherton, Dudley.

The Crown Prosecution Service said today there was insufficient evidence to charge the three with any fraud-related offences.

Head of the West Midlands CPS Complex Casework Unit, David Clark, said: “There is insufficient evidence to prosecute any of the three individuals for any criminal offences connected to this investigation.”

Dame Mo, who now runs Barr Beacon Language College, in Walsall, was unavailable for comment today.
